Some Lucky Dog

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Pets

Style: Casual

Materials

cotton fabrics, batting

What was your inspiration?

This was a custom order little quilt (20 x 24 inches) that a customer ordered for her dog. She selected the fabrics from photos I'd posted and the simple design was similar to others I'd had on my website.

What are you most proud of?

I think the different patterns of free-motion quilting ended up looking pretty good on this little number.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I've been practicing different patterns of free-motion quilting on these little pet quilts. It is a great way to practice. The pets aren't going to complain if it isn't perfect and their owners may not be quite as particular, either as they might be for a table topper or something.

VERY cute. DO you do your own stippling? I haven't tried this yet. I'm intimidated!

Yes, I was intimidated about it, too, and when I tried quilting a big quilt (60 x 80 inches) on my short-bed home machine, I had a world of trouble. But these little quilts are so much easier to manipulate. And there is definitely that psychological advantage of knowing the pets won't care if you make a mistake!
