What was your inspiration?
I was surfing the net, and ran across a few sites about traditional sock monkeys. I've always loved them, but the basic monkey is sooo . . . boring! I decided to change a few things here and there, and came up with my sock monkey army! The army is made up of monkeys, monsters, bush babies, cats, dogs and even giraffes! The number of things you can make from a pair of socks never ceases to amaze me!
What are you most proud of?
each creation has it's own personality. That, and it drives my kids, now 21 and 19, insane that their mother is now the "sock monkey lady"!!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Take your time, enjoy, and don't stress if it isn't perfect. That's what gives your monkey it's personality. I would also advise that if these are for small children, double stitch the arms, tail and ears on, and you may want to stitch eyes made out of felt instead of buttons.
