Simply Pearls & Tourmaline

Instructions

No special instructions. I just made the Biwa FWP the focal point of this necklace and so I used a minimal amount of Tourmaline rondelles and tiny gold-filled rounds as spacers.

Difficulty:

Category: Jewelry

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Classic, Romantic, Retro / Vintage

Materials

Cultured Fresh Water Biwa Pearls, multi-color Tourmaline rondelles, 2.5 mm gold-filled rounds, gold-filled extender chain, lobster clasp and earring findings. Beadalon beading wire.

What was your inspiration?

These were really nice cultured pearls with a beautiful luster, uniform size, and uniform lengthwise drilling so they made themselves into a simple but elegant necklace.

What are you most proud of?

That I made the pearls "the stars" of this necklace. My goal was to "frame" them with the tourmaline and gold spacers to point-up their beauty and not distract attention from them.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Sometimes less is more, especially with really nice beads. If you find some really lovely stones, let them stand on their own as much as possible.

Love this, I've made a similar design in years past with Swarovski crystals in between but I love the tourmaline!

Thank you very much. I love tourmaline (the rainbow gem) with almost anything.
