|Here are some details about my project:|
What materials did you use? Silk dupion for the main fabric Silk organza for the interlining Silk habotai for the lining Cotton for the inner boned bodice. Steel spiral boning. Petersham waist stay belt inside...........red Petersham in black on the outside of the dress at the waist.
What are you most proud of? I finally made a boned bodice and it is something I had wanted to try for a long time. Buying the bombshell course helped me achieve that. Susan's couture course gave me added confidence to go forward and alter the Vogue pattern ( v2237) by using the lower section and adding the bodice to it. I had to alter the bodice of the bombshell pattern quite a bit to fit, and then re-grade the vogue pattern of the skirt one size down and re position the darts on the skirt pattern. Having watched the couture dress course through, I gained the confidence to go for it and make a dress that was unique to my daughter. I am proud of the hand stitching in this dress and how professional it looks.
What advice would you give someone starting this project? Make sure you follow the excellent guidance of your course tutor and make a toile first.........that helps in knowing when you cut into your expensive fabric, that it is going to fit exceptionally well and be tailored to your individual needs. Thanks so much to Susan Khalje and Gertie, couldn't have done this without them!!
