Sewing: Short sleeved scoop neck

Short sleeved scoop neck

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Sewing With Knits: 5 Wardrobe Essentials »

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Casual, Funky

Materials

Stretchy knit fabric

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to try out a very stretchy knit for comparison purposes, my last project was with a jersey that had minimal stretch.

What are you most proud of?

The fit is perfect, not too loose and not too tight. Not bad!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is a very beginner friendly project. Work slowly and carefully on attaching the neckband and you should have great results. No need to buy t shirts anymore!

You did a great job on this t shirt! The fit looks perfect for you and I love the neckline with the contrast. It looks like you cut it so that the light portion of the stripe would be the only part showing. Is that right?

Thanks! Yes, that's what I did, but it was actually by chance. I'm not that good of a planner! :)

The t-shirt looks amazing! I am going to be working with stripes as well. I have a question though, how did you keep the stripes out of the neckband, did you use a different material?

Thanks! I used the same fabric for the shirt and neckband. The stripes are there, but not as noticeable since you cut the neckband along the width of the stripes. I hope that makes sense!

Okay that fit is fabulous on you. This tee really does look purchased.

Thanks, everyone!! It's one of the easiest patterns I've used, made even better by seeing it done on the video. The pattern itself is well designed and includes helpful notches in the neckband to help you get it lined up perfectly. I think my next project will be the v neck.
