Quilting: Sept BOM #2
14 kudoz

Sept BOM #2

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Casual

Materials

cotton fabrics

What are you most proud of?

It's not Oct yet. Since I have no real background fabric for this colorway, I'm having to find ways to use what I have left of my fabrics.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Sew slowly. I used the no pin method but it's still too fiddly for me.

Darns... I love the whole quilt! I especially love what you've done with Cleopatra's Puzzle... that one somehow needed palm fronds or something regal and you did it. I want to see how you quilt your quilt too! Seems to be the "make-it or break-it" point for me! Kudos!

Thanks, mo.sews! I have started quilting this one after signing up for Leah Day's class - need all the help I can get in deciding what to quilt where.

Enough fabric? I've been known to stitch two or more pcs from the scraps on the floor together and recut . I figure if you quilt over it, who's to know? Also, I make small quilts for a church charity (for hospitals) and after being washed a few times by the new owner, what does it matter? LOL Trust me, this project will probably have a little creative piecing at the end too, as I am using stash

LOL! We do what we have to sometimes! At least I won't have a lot of leftovers from some of these fabrics. I'll definitely need to make some extremely scrappy quilts after this BOM is over.

Thanks, Surfside6! I'm hoping I have enough fabric for the final two blocks! Maybe I'll be able to use some of the scraps I've been saving.

I also love your fabrics Darns - I am doing my blocks at the moment - but have found that I have to use Amy's way of pinning - much more accurate for me. I am looking forward to finishing the second of the chain block later this morning and then start of the 2 cleopatra blocks. I cannot wait to see what October blocks are then how we put them all together - really looking forward to seeing your beautiful blocks together as a finished quilt.

Yes, this one is for Lesley. She makes Tshirt quilts so no one has ever made her a quilt - it's time!

Thanks, Pamillia! I think I am so done with doing curves. Maybe it would be different if the squares were bigger.
