|Material||Gum Paste, Fondant, Other, Modeling Chocolate|
Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: We were celebrating a group birthday for the little ones in my mom group (my daughter plus 11 of her friends). I was looking for a way to celebrate all kids while show casing their friendship. I thought a scrabble cake would be great to show the symbolism. The cake is filled and crumb coated with dark chocolate ganache. I used the techniques from Clean & Simple Cake Design by Jessica Harris to make sharp corners and edges. I covered the cake with chocolate fondant from Satin Ice. I colored and rolled fondant to make the Scrabble game board. I used modeling chocolate (for the first time!) thanks to Jessica's encouragement for the letter tiles and edible marker for the actual letters and numbers. Last but certainly not least, I used gum paste for the scrabble tile holders which worked great to highlight the wood grain!
