Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: I was asked by our PME instructor, Maria Kovacs, to make a shoe using flowers and leaves. I basically followed instructions from the Craftsy on-line class - Nicholas Lodge - on the rose (which worked out fantastic!) Rose petal cutters 90mm, veiner, rose leaf cutter, rose leaf veiner, pasta machine, gum paste, wires. I did free hand cut the sole of the shoe (leaf) and used a plastic former to get the shape of a shoe and let it dry for a couple of days. To make the stem I put a wire through the stem in order to make it strong to support the weight at the top.
What are you most proud of? I am so proud of the roses. I was showing someone a picture of it and they asked me if I would make one for their daughter's birthday....so I've got an order already!
What advice would you give someone starting this project? I would tell them to watch the video first, maybe a couple of times and do the step by step....it is better to start making the buds first and not jump into the rose right away. but Nicholas's instructions are great!
