Retro Bathing Suit

Make It

This project was made from an independent Craftsy designer's pattern:
French Ladies 1950's Pinup Bra Corselet »

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Retro / Vintage, Classic

Materials

Cotton, thread, zipper

What was your inspiration?

I was inspired by the cute vintage suits that are sexy and flattering while still being modest and functional.

What are you most proud of?

I played with the fit and altered the pattern to fit my size, which is not super common. It is hard for me to find good fitting bras, so I was happy I was able to get this tweaked.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Read the sew along posts at http://afewthreadsloose.blogspot.com and http://ohhhlulu.blogspot.com for some good tips on sewing this bra up. Cutting on the bias is a good idea for getting a nice shape.

Ohh, how wonderful! Great fabric choice! How do you get the strapless to stay up?

Thanks! The two dressform pics were in progress- I did eventually add straps. I wanted to post this project, and these are all the pics I have from last summer when I made it! It was going to be reversible, but I had trouble figuring that out, so the stripes ended up a fun lining.

Why it replied 3 times, I don't know! And I don't know how to erase. Oh well!
