What was your inspiration?
I joined a quilters challenge at my local Quilting fabric store at the last minute and when I saw the mystery fabric it screamed a patriotic theme.I really wanted to be inspired to do some quilting as my quilting group has stopped meeting for the summer and thereby I was slacking in my quilting. That's why I joined the challenge. You are given 3 months to finish the block but I picked up my fabric just 3 weeks before the due date.
What are you most proud of?
I was happy at the final look.I had so many ideas in my head and to put it to action was overwhelming. The quilt then decided to have a mind of its own and "Ran away"from my original plan. So I had to "chase it" and rein it in.I was happy to chain stitch the Pledge even though I thought it would never end.I then Hand-Quilted it(Which I had never done before) all the while thanking God I was not born Amish coz I would have been shunned with my hand quilting skills!!!!I finally named it aptly REBEKAH after my 4 year old who is quite patriotic what with her calling 911 just to talk to them!!!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Enjoy every bit of it.I picked only the quilting block patterns that were easy to work with as a beginner.Ofcourse I preferred the squares over all the half triangle ones!!!
