What was your inspiration?
I picked up the serpentine coins and Rhyolite pendant while browsing the sale items at a stand at a weekend Mineral and Gem show held at my local county fairgrounds. The two items seemed to me to be perfectly suited to one another and I couldn't wait to put them together in a necklace -- even though I had other projects which I should have assembled first.
What are you most proud of?
I like the way the two stones complement each other with two shades of green, with one stone translucent and clear, and the other opaque and patterned.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I frequently start with the pendant and then find stones to string with it, but in this case, it was serendipity. I picked up a few strands of beads, and then a few pendants, when the "perfect" pendant for one of those strands seemed to jump right into my hand from a box of random stone pendants. Even though you should approach a bead show with a shopping list in mind (to keep from going over-budget), keep your eyes, and your mind open.
