What materials did you use? 100% cottons in rainbow colors on white background. Quilted with cotton variegated thread both top and bobbin. I drew the stem, then free-motion quilted the feathers, adding a rib inside each. I went back and echo stitched last. The back is a solid delft blue so the variegated thread makes a pretty back. I did this start to finish in about 1 1/2 days at a retreat.

This is an awesome table runner... I love rainbow quilts, so this is my kind of color way! And the ombre fabric gives it dimension. The design is cute too. Simple, yet very eye catching. Thank you. Go for it! It's a nice way to use those bold colored solids or almost solids.

I've since added couched lime green YLI Candlelight thread down the spine of the feathers - adds a lot of subtle pizzazz. Several of the rainbow fabrics I used are from the Gradations collection designed by Caryl Bryer Fallert-Gentry for Benartex. We just saw her awesome show in the Quilt Museum in Paducah on through the end of March.
