Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Machine Quilting: Free-Motion & More »

Instructions

On the check fabric, I just used the walking foot along every second check.
On the floral print, each area got its own design that echoed the print - diagonal lines, swirling vines, etc.
On the plain fabric, I made a wiggly diamond pattern with the walking foot, then fulled each one with some random design.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Unisex

Style: Funky, Casual

Materials

fabric, batting, thread, zips, sewing machine, darning foot, walking foot, zipper foot

What was your inspiration?

The bags are constructed as described on my other project using the pattern from Beginner Serging. I quilted mine because I can't buy fusible fleece around here.

What are you most proud of?

I enjoyed quilting the floral fabric most, but I also like the dragonfly on the plain fabric.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Practice is good! And you learn more from making mistakes than you do from getting everything right first time.

I like the quilted look best!! Your dragonfly is great. Looks like you had a fun time. It is using your practice pieces to good use. Are these Christmas gifts? Lovely work!!
