Trim A Tree

Instructions

From the book "Quick Country Christmas Quilts" by Debbie Mumm copyright 1995. It is a wall hanging but I added extra ornaments to make it an advent calendar.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Holiday

Materials

Cotton textiles, fusible web, buttons, cotton perle thread.

What was your inspiration?

This was made about 20 years ago when my children were small. I wanted a reusable advent calendar and I saw a pattern in Quick Country Christmas Quilts" by Debbie Mumm copyright 1995. I decided to make it with removable ornaments. I had to make 23 ornaments and a removable (snap) star for the top. I hit up the kids' coloring books to come up with extra ornaments. I used fusible web to make the ornaments and glued a loop of perle cotton glued to the back to hook around the buttons on the tree. I did all our names in primitive stitches around the border.

What are you most proud of?

I was able to adapt a pattern into something that gives me such great joy.

Thanks Paddi! I forgot where I had gotten the pattern but since your mention I was able to put my finger on it! I'll change the info above!
