i can never find the right setting for a quilt. Is it better to show the whole thing or just part of it?

What is the best way to stage a quilt for a photo?

I would shoot it from the side. Lay it flat on the table and place your camera on the photo or just hoover over it. Allowing us to see the stitching. Then I would take a photo dead-on full size. The quilt looks like a child's quilt so I would place it on a kids bed. Also, fold it as if you are storing it and do a detail shot from the side showing the folds.
