What was your inspiration?
Just looking at my grand-kids I knew they needed something on thier little heads that represented the season. Fun...fun...fun!
What are you most proud of?
They turned out much cuter then I thought they would.. :~)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Here are the directions for the tendrils for my hat..I used a size 4 needle, I didnt like how fat they came out with the 8 needles..personal choice.
Tendrils:
Using size 8 needles, cast on 12 stitches. Knit into the front, back, and front again of
each stitch on the needle. 36 stitches. Bind off purlwise on the next row. The piece
will be very curly. Cut the tail, but remember to leave it long enough to use it to
stitch the tendril onto the hat.
Repeat the tendril pattern for the second tendril, using 24 stitches instead of 12.
Your increase row will yield 72 stitches.
Stitch the tendrils onto the hat, near the base of the I-cord for a natural pumpkin
effect. Weave in all ends and block to measurements.
