Materials

Aida cloth, DMC Light Effects Embroidery Thread, Fabric, pre-made frame.

What was your inspiration?

Fun. I made this project just for me, which is something I seldom do. But I wanted to try the Light Effects Pastel threads, and they came with this adorable pattern. So, I tried!

What are you most proud of?

The framing. I did it all myself, including putting together the "mat", which is just made of iridescent fabric. The judges at the county fair didn't care much for it, but I like it. :)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Use short lengths of the Light Effects. It's similar to metallic threads, and wears from pulling it through the fabric. If you use lengths too long, you will spend a whole lot of time fighting knots - and end up wasting a lot of thread.

So what do the judges know. . . I like it too, and I like that you fringed the edges of your project and framed the whole cloth. I just may borrow that idea.

Thanks! I had kind of thought that the judging at the fair was supposed to be on the stitching, but I guess I can see getting judged on the whole thing for best of show or something. :) Oh well, being just for me it doesn't need to be perfect - I only need to like it. :) Thank you! Borrow away! :)
