Instructions

"Doodle Stamp" is a great stash buster. Use up your scraps to make this wonderful quilt. Quilt squares ( 2 1/2" squares) are slightly bigger than the traditional postage stamp quilt for ease of piecing. Finished size of each square is 2". The pattern is written using a 'chain piecing method' which is clearly explained in the pattern.

Finished quilt measures 74" x 98"

What was your inspiration?

My sister gives me a bag of scraps everytime I see you and I wanted to make a quilt without going to the quilt shop to purchase fabric. I challenged myself to only use what I had in my studio. I cut all of the 2 1/2" colored fabric squares using the scraps my sister had given me.

What are you most proud of?

I am pleased that I made this quilt only using my stash and my sister's scraps. So don't throw those scraps away! If it's big enough to cut a 2 1/2" square, save it for this project.

I'm also really happy with the lazy daisy quilting pattern I quilted on this quilt.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Do not let all of the cutting of the squares overwhelm you. The end result is well worth all of the cutting. Everything is based on 2 1/2". So you could do this quilt with a few precut jelly rolls.

Gorgeous! You have inspired me to go through my 'fish bowl' of scraps and create my own version of this!

OOPS! I am back again! It looks like all the whites are close or the same throughout this quilt.I wonder if you would share that detail with us? If one were going to using a batik Jelly Roll would you suggest auditioning other colours or would white be best?

I used a white/cream background color. I think this quilt would also look great in batiks! I think the skies the limit as to all the different options this quilt could be done in.

I think this is a wonderful option when there are no charms or layer cakes left in the same fabric as my one lonely jelly roll. I will, indeed, try this!

Very nice. I'll have to try this. Everytime I use a fabric for sewing, if there is leftover I make a 5" slice from the end, then cut into 5"squares & through them in a box. I use this box for appliques & quilting. It's already cut. It's easy enough to make 2 slices through the 5" squares to make 2 1/2" square when needed.
