Instructions

I used Myphotostitch.com to make a cross stitch chart out of my photo.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Boys

Style: Funky

What was your inspiration?

I was making a quilt for my nephew. I have seen a few of these pixelated quilts lately, and thought this might make a masculline look.

What are you most proud of?

I ordered the Kona cottons from overseas (I live in Norway and the fabric was bought at Pink Chalk fabrics online shop) and the colors actually worked, even though I didn't see them in person first. I also love that you can actually recognise Erlend in the quilt. (from a distance)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Spend a lot of time cropping your picture and finding the right grid. Be careful when you do the piecing, or else the rows will not be straight enough.

On MyPhotoStitch.com, what number did you choose when it asked you for number of stitches? Or doesn't it matter because you're were just trying to get the gridlines on it?

I played around a little. I am making a blanket quilt, about 50x70 inch, so I wanted to stay inside this, but also avoid having too small pieces. I started out with 30x30" (as Caro), but that didn't work as I didn't recognise the face. I ended up with 40x40" as my best try. I have ordered some Kona cottons in greys and can't wait to start!
