Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Cake Decorating

Type of item: Food

For: Children

Style: Cute

Materials

Cake, fondant, wafer paper, Lego set

What was your inspiration?

A pirate party for a kid who loves legos.

What are you most proud of?

The map. I drew it free-hand on wafer paper. I thought it turned out pretty good, which is why I photographed it before wrapping the cake with it.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Know your materials. I had no idea wafer paper shrunk after getting moist/wet. Had I known, I would have overlapped my ends. It is helpful to know how your materials react to certain conditions.

What a great cake! You draw really well. Did you use food-safe markers on the wafer paper?

Thank you! I did use food-safe markers, made by Americolor. I should give some proper credit, the drawings were not my idea. I found a "Pin the Treasure on the Map" game at a local party store, and used the map as my inspiration for the drawings. I did free-hand it, but shouldn't take credit for the creativity! :) Thanks for the compliments!
