This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Quick-Strip Paper Piecing »

Instructions

I just used one block, plus 2 strips either side to make it longer so my daughter can use it for a doll's bed.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Toy

For: Children

Style: Traditional, Cute

Materials

Polycotton fabric remnants from my stash, sewing thread, part of an old knitted cotton tunic for the batting, Peggy Martin "Quick Strip Paper Piecing" course materials

What was your inspiration?

This was my first try of Quick Strip Paper Piecing, so I used remnant fabrics. They are mostly unused because I didn't like them much or they didn't go with anything else, so I knew this wouldn't end up a favourite item, but I hate to waste anything, so I decided it would be a good quilt for keeping dolls and toys warm.

What are you most proud of?

I think it is a good demonstration of the different effects you can get from this one pattern, and was a great piece to practice on.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Use fabrics with strong contrasts, but remember they still need to talk to eachother!

Your block will make a wonderful doll quilt for your daughter! Just trying one block with leftover scraps is a great way to try out a new technique - I know your daughter (and her dolls) will love it!
