Correct. Bake the pie, let it cool, then put the whole un-cut pie in the cake batter.

I'm pretty sure you would need to pre-bake the pies (an unbaked pie won't stand on it's own without a piepan.

Oh my goodness.... Yeah, I guess it is pretty obvious now that I see it typed out why you need to prebake the pie lol. Thanks for the reply! :)

I love this idea but do have a question: do you bake the pie beforehand or bake it along with the cake? I was thinking before but wanted to be sure before I tried one of these. Again, great idea and can't wait to make one!

Bake a pie. Fill the cake pan 1/4 way full with batter, than put in pie, top with more cake batter and bake about 300 degrees for 45-75 min
