What was your inspiration?

I wanted to make a second quilt for my pet Tiggy.

What are you most proud of?

To be honest I am disappointed in this quilt as it seemed better in my head than when I actually put it together... I think the black fabric against the pastels is too severe.

However, I was very pleased with the way the pastels matched up and I was pleased with the border. Tiggy loves his new quilt and I guess that is what really matters :))))

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Always make sure to choose fabric that tones in and learn from your mistakes!

Lucky, lucky Tiggy! I've had to hide this picture from my Rupert, or he'll want one too! I think it's really great! Well done!

Hi Desna.....I knew you had relatives coming, as you had mentioned it. Sorry you have been sick. Probably too much to do all at once. Hope you will be up and on your feet soon. Miss seeing your comments Hugs for Tiggy

Hi Desna - hope you see this note. Haven't seen you on line lately. Wanted to be sure you saw pictures by "Applekrisp" of a stack and whack quilt she is working on called "swoon" or something. I think if yu go to Projects in the near future, you will be able to see it ======gorgeous

Desna, I love the black. It really pops the pastel colours and they frame the cat images beautifully. I reckon (bit of Aussie slang for you!!) your first idea is often the most intuitive and works a treat. Well done. Cheers, Karen.

Thanks Karen, I really was not sure of this one but you have given me some confidence in it. Tiggy sure enjoys it though ha

It's adorable. (Sometimes when something like this happens to me I draw the darker background color through the others by using it to stitch...Like stitching a black squiggle line inside random pastel strips suggesting yarn, or stitching Tiggy's name inside a strip - pulling the black through the pastels might solve your problem.) but, from my side (and Tiggy's), I don't think you really have a problem!

Thank you so much Pam for the lovely comment and for the advice. I think that is a brilliant idea with the black stitching. I have already washed the quilt a couple of times after Tiggy has used it so would the stitching still work ok?

of course! Does Tiggy like playing with strings and things? Because some looped ribbon along the edges (or black ribbon stitched up in loops along one pastel strip) might be a lot of fun to play with.

Desna, your quilt is really cute. I like your fussy cutting & remember your pastels pull out the colors in the black. The black makes the pastels pop. But I do think you are going to have a problem on your hands with Tiggy. You might have to start making two quilts per season. :-)

The important thing is....Tiggy is happy, right? I think it is super cute, even with the black. I just thought when I typed the word black : cat fur catcher? It's still adorable.
