Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: Butter cake, butter cream frosting, butter cream and custard filling. Pea Pod Baby, trellis leaves and teddy bear made with homemade gum paste. Made a gumpaste plat form to support Pea Pod Baby to keep her clean from butter cream frosting. Used pearl and sparkle dust over areas of Pea pod baby, baby blanket, teddy bear and leaves, colored sprinkles and butter cream grass. Used eatable color pencil for details.

What are you most proud of? How whimsical she looked after all final touches.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? After making the base, allow to crust but not completely dry on wax paper over Styrofoam so she moves off easily-- dry enough only to support Pea Pod Baby; to dry and the base will crack. Use a strong tooth pick to support Pea Pod Baby body. Make your trellis steams and insert for pre-holes, but remove to add baby blanket, other decorations and dusting, and re-insert trellis last stage - I had to re coil trellis again before final stage - they will sag.

I have used more technics from this class than any other class taken, but, I am into theme cakes and love making them. Have fun with this class. It was a lot of fun. I have also made a Mermaid Cake, too!

And one more thing. I actually made a pea pod templet which you can do AFTER the baby is placed onto the base of the pod using parchment paper - it was fast, easy and came out PERFECT!
