I constructed the base card from navy blue cardstock and scored it at the top so that my palm tree Christmas card opens vertically from the bottom. For the Christmas scene on the front of my card I stamped the palm tree on white cardstock and colored it using gamsol and colored pencils. I created the beach and night sky by sponging with a variety of blue and brown inks after I masked the palm tree with artist's tape. To complete the beach I used a gel pen to add waves lapping on the sand. As a finishing touch I stamped a bright yellow Christmas star on a sponged oval of cardstock and popped it on the sky. I matted the completed scene with yellow cardstock.
For the inside card panel I printed "Happy Holidays" on white cardstock. I decorated this panel by stamping a string of Christmas lights along the lower edge and coloring them using gamsol and colored pencils. I matted the completed panel on yellow cardstock.
I also created an envelope from heavy cover stock and decorated it to coordinate with my Christmas card.

A October surprise snowstorm that had me thinking about a warm and snow free place.
What are you most proud of?
The way the Christmas lights appear to glow on the palm tree.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
When masking the palm tree cut the mask just inside the edge of the black stamp outline to prevent a halo around the palm tree image after sponging in the background.
