I used a combination of photos I took and images in my head to create the 4-seasons quilt. This was commissioned by a friend. He wanted a wall hanging that reflected the four seasons of Interior Alaska where we live and he asked that flowers and or berries be the feature. Summer, spring and fall were not a problem as flowers and berries abound. Winter was a different matter in that everything is frozen and covered with snow. After some reflection, I remembered that a few old rose hips tend to hang on the bare rose limbs for most or all winter. The wild spruce hens feed on these during the cold months. I just dug into my stash and auditioned anything that I felt might work in my panels. I added little details like the mushroom for interest. Love this. I have been thinking of trying a quilt to reflect all the parts of Canada and US where I have lived. This is a good jumping off place of how to frame it.
Did you ever see something so beautiful that there was no words to describe it! Well, that is how much I love this. I lived in Alaska for 3 years when I was a little girl. Thanks for sharing.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL,!! I am making a pictorial quilt of my son at the moment - only my second since my class. This puts mine to shame!!! It is awesome!
Thanks a bunch. I just signed up for the pictorial class. I've done only scenery and flower type landscapes (pictorials), but I would like to try people and hope this class will help me do that.
