What was your inspiration?
A dress I saw Katie Couric wear on a recent special for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
What are you most proud of?
That after three muslins it fit me beautifully. The dress was for a recent evening wedding. The beautiful orange color was a hit in a sea of black that usually overwhelms these affairs. I usually wear pants as evening attire, so this dress was a refreshing change for me. No one noticed my less than beautiful legs as they focused on the wonderful orange color.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
The end result of this dress barely resembled the original pattern. The muslins trials saved me. Whenever numerous alterations are required, either for fit or for style modifications, always make a muslin. Once that's done, the actual garment can be made in half the time,
