Oh How Sweet The Music

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Unisex

Style: Retro / Vintage, Funky

Materials

I found a great image of a 1917 Sheet Music called Carbarlick Acid and fell in love. I used Spoonflower in Seattle and had two of the images printed onto a yard of cotton and then added the framing in whites grays and blacks. The back is a black and white Alexander Henry Day of the Dead and Oh Sweet Music was created. I quilted the top following many of the lines of the design and filling in to enhance the skeleton image. Then did basic stippling for the filler. All in all, I really loved the way it came out.

What was your inspiration?

I love skeletons and working with Day of the Dead and this image was perfect

What are you most proud of?

The overall effect of the quilt

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be inspired by what really excites you, not what others think.

Blessings to you and it's true in my personal opinion. Dream it and do it. Hey if it doesn't work then don't stress just try again..

I like your advice. It seems that you can do anything with fabric....use any image that inspires you. I love your idea; it turned out beautifully.

I especially like the vertical quilting lines on the tuxedo jacket; they add great texture to your quilt.
