Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: I took the mini class in Modern Buttercream, then went and made my cake - the recipe was tremendous, and the techniques I learned were invaluable. I can't wait to do another cake!!

I used the leftover buttercream from this project (about a cup and a half, to fill another cake I made this week. I melted and cooled a 1oz square of good unsweetened chocolate, added my buttercream (room temp) and whipped it back up to fluffy. I added about a tablespoon of heavy cream because it seemed ot be trying to separate - that helped emulsify it again, Used this as a filling between the layers of a black chocolate cake, after leveling and crumb-casing. After chilling again, I placed whole fresh strawberries, up-ended, like a mountains, over the whole of the top, then poured a rum chocolate ganache over everything. when you slice it, you get chocolate covered strawberries on a buttercream filled slice. It was a huge hit!
