What advice would you give someone starting this project? If the ties are different widths, you will need to make them a consistent size before you start sewing. Open the tie backs up...they have a lot of fabric in them! Keep the points of the ties intact. You won't have to do anything to finish them...they are already finished!

Just lost my dad a month ago. Mom didn't know what to do with all his shirts and ties. I was going to make a quilt from his shirts, but saw this and fell in love! I've never quilted before, but am going to try this..wish me luck! Then, if it works and I don't go crazy, I want to make quilts from his shirts for the grandkids. If you have ideas for this, I would love to see them!

Very nice. I just recently did one myself.

Thank you, Bobbi, for posting this wonderful project. I read through all the comments and appreciate your patience answering questions, even though they were the same questions asked over and over. Your photos, tips, and further explanations make it very clear to be able to make this project.

Loved your idea of using this pattern for ties.

I would purchase the pattern if available. I have friend who loves this tie quilt, She lost her husband recently and has all his ties.
