This is a piece of a guipil (woman's blouse) from the village of Nebaj. I edged it with distressed leather and put a cotton velvet back on it.
What was your inspiration?
Nebaj is a village in Guatemala. This pillow is made from a piece of the traditional blouse worn by women from that town. Their guipil is one of the most elaborately woven ones in Guatemala.
What are you most proud of?
-that it all worked!!!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
use a beautiful piece of Guatemalan weaving
