What was your inspiration?
This is a mat that matches the baby quilt made for my friend, Naomi (details in my projects page). It's nice to have something clean and washable for the baby to lie on when his/her nappies (diapers) need changing and this rolls up quite small to go into the bottom of Naomi's bag when she's out and about. It's fastened with a tab and velcro when rolled up. I got the idea from a You Tube video by Jenny Doan of Missouri Quilters and her daughter - it's the one in which they demonstrate quilting by the stippling or vermicelli method.
What are you most proud of?
I hadn't tried the "Delectable Mountains" or the "Roman Stripes" blocks before and was quite pleased with the way they came out. Both these blocks came from Karin Hellaby's book "Sew a Row Quilts" - a continual source of inspiration to me.
