Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Design Your Own Handbag »

Instructions

None, other than Brett Bara's.
I borrowed my son's woodburning kit and personalised the bag, adding a leather label with my name.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Casual

Materials

Cotton canvas. Used for upholstering. Scraps of cotton material for base. Inside: scraps of material, bits of leather.

What was your inspiration?

The craftsy course, and my own ideas of how I want the handbag.

What are you most proud of?

the leather label.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

When making your first handbag, stick to the instructions. Once you are confident, you can try adding innovations.

The bottom is not really leather... It's a leather-looking piece of fabric a friend gave me. She was going to throw it away!!!

Thank you, Pam for your positive comment. I feel there's a long way to go yet, though. I' ll have to continue practising...
