Instructions

This was my first quilt & I didn't realize that a quilt pattern would only include instructions on how to do the quilt top! I had to scour the internet to figure out how to do the second half of the quilt.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Children

Style: Cute, Funky, Mod

Materials

7 fat quarters - I used Monaco by Monaluna 1 3/4 yards neutral fabric for sashing & border 60 x 68 of batting 3 1/4 yards backing fabric

What was your inspiration?

My little boy! I am redecorating his room - upgrading his from "baby" to "little boy". I knew I couldn't BUY bedding - I wanted something unique... so I tried my hand at quilting. I'm really glad I jumped into this unknown territory of sewing... I thoroughly enjoyed it & can't wait to start my next one.

What are you most proud of?

That I pushed through my fears of needing everything to be perfect & just did it. I am embracing the imperfections!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I actually posted about my lessons learned on my blog: http://truecolorblog.com/2012/05/03/my-very-first-quilt-and-lessons-learned/

Thank you so much. You know... I started the BOM & did the first two blocks & was JAZZED, but then had to wait for month #2 and lost my steam. However, I am definitely coming back to it!!

Thanks! I think I want to try the swoon quilt pattern. I'll have to read about it & make sure I'm not getting ahead of myself. :)
