Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Crocheting

Type of item: Functional

For: Women

Style: Funky

Materials

I used a bulky acrylic yarn and 5 & 6 mm crochet hooks.

What was your inspiration?

I was inspired by a friends pair of mukluk's and Erika Knight's pattern for Turkish slippers in her "simple crochet" book. I have made many pair of these slippers and decided the pattern would provide a perfect place to start. I added extra rows to the foot. Changed the heel so that it was curved, which hugs my foot better and proceeded to make the top. I tried it on as I crocheted making it a custom fit. I also ripped it back a few times... Okay many times...but it was worth it.

What are you most proud of?

Finding a use for some of the fiber in my extensive wool collection.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Let your imagination run wild. Try different patterns for the slipper's uppers. Don't be afraid to rip it back and start again. It helps to try it on as you go and take notes so that the second one will be the same as the first. Happy crocheting.
