Quilting: 'my mom loves me'
5 kudoz

"my mom loves me"

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Other

Style: Whimsical

Materials

fabric, lots of threads and some colorpencils.

What was your inspiration?

This is a work in progress. Not done yet. Need to trim and quilt it.

My inspiration is a photo taken last week of my daughter and her little son. He was born premature and he is so small. I wanted to show her my love for them both and this is my way of doing it. She has approved my work and is proud of the way I show my love for them.

What are you most proud of?

I am so glad that I have embrased Lola Jenkings way of thread art and made it in to my own thing. Using thread scetching and applique and pencils and paints to make my art. I am proud of me because I dare to step outside my box and try new things. Making art quilts this way is very inspiring for me. Have lots of my photos and other ideas to make new art quilts.
I am so glad that I can turn my photos in to schetches and then make a pattern to use for applique and outlines.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If I can do this everyone can. Just go for it, try it and love it. It will amaze you and you learn by try and error. I like the learing prosess of art quilts and finding my own way to go. So.... just go for it :o)

This is quite beautiful and really does show the love of the mother for her baby. You say that the project is unfinished, but it already has a great deal of detail and, best of all, it conveys the feelings. Do please post a photo of your finished picture when it has been done - it is going to be wonderful! Well done!
