Instructions

This machine was given to me when I was about seven or eight. I remember sitting in my room making a jumpsuit for my teddy complete with buttons (the button holes were just cut with scissors. I had no idea what I was doing. My mum thought it was marvelous.

I wish I still had that jumpsuit to show you all. It must have been thrown away in my teenage years.

What was your inspiration?

This was the very start of my sewing life. I seem to have a lot more time to sew these days and I find I am a little more careful with my sewing.

What are you most proud of?

That I sewed my very first piece of clothing (a white jumpsuit) for my Teddy. Would love to have it now to take a photo to show everyone.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

My mum gave me this machine and has encouraged me over the years. I think she thought I was safer with this machine than her bigger one. She has an industrial machine that I would like to have a go on, she is very protective of that one. I moved on to a Treadle machine as I got older. I am on to my fourth sewing machine now. I have two that I alternate between, and an overlocker.

No no no no no. I could never sell this machine. I hope I have a grand daughter that I can pass it onto one day. My two sons had a play with it once, but they soon lost interest.
