Muslin - Quilted Jacket with Mary Ray

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
The Fashionably Quilted Jacket »

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Plus-sized

Style: Traditional, Classic

Materials

60" bleached cotton muslin & Vogue pattern 8045.

What was your inspiration?

Have never made a jacket.

What are you most proud of?

That I was brave enough to post these not attractive pictures. That I have not quit even though I am on muslin two. I am still excited about the jacket. I think?

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just take your time with the muslin(s) LOL

Please keep posting on your progress... I'd also love to know which pattern you settled on to fit your body shape as I might just have the same issue as you! I wish you every success!

Hi Scheri, This is lookin' good. I'm not sure where it is in the process, but the fit looks so much better. Let me know if you have more questions.

Wow Scheri, you are just a "stitchin' machine". Can't wait to see what fabric you come up with for the finished project.

Thanks Erin but as we discussed no amount of work will make the shoulders and neck fit. Not the right style for my body type. Now back to drawing board and find a more suitable pattern :)

Okay onto a second muslin. Now I have enough circumference to work with to get a perfect fit.

Have always been too lazy to make a muslin - can see from your photos how important it is to take the time. Thanks for inspiring me to "do it right" when my pattern arrives for the course. Thanks for posting, Scheri
