Directions: With color A (the color that will form the “walls”) CO 53 stiches. Row 1 (RS): with B, K2,* s1wyf, k5, repeat from * until last 3 stiches, s1wyf, k2. Row2: with B, K2, *s1wyb, k5, repeat from * until last 3 stiches, s1wyb, k2. Row3-4: Repeat rows 1-2. Row5-6: with A, knit. Row7: with B, k5, *s1wyf, k5, repeat from * until last 5 stiches, k5. Row8: with A, k5, *s1wyb, k5, repeat from*, until last 5 stiches, k5. Row 9-10: repeat rows 7-8. Row 11-12: repeat rows 5-6. This is the slip stich pattern. These dishcloths inspired by a vintage afghan pattern. The slip-stich knitting technique that is used here is one of my favorite. It's a lot easier than it looks and the results are fabulous.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
These dishcloths make a wonderful gifts, especially pared with a bar of handmade soap!
Thanks so much for this great pattern. Your color choices are super creative- very inspiring. I'm going to try the pattern with a slight variation using a one color chain stitch crochet border around the finished item -if I can remember how to chain stitch:).
