What was your inspiration?
The frame around the monkeys was inspired by quilts from members in our local quilt guild. The quilt was a baby quilt for a family friend who is doing her nursery in pink and brown and loves monkeys. Emblibrary.com had the stacked monkeys with tutus pattern, and I just changed the colors a bit to reflect the quilt.
What are you most proud of?
I like how it combines classic quilt techniques with a little funky flair with the center frame.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Take your time cutting out the frame. Don't iron it down until you are absolutely certain that it is the shape you want. I tried it on the quilt probably six times and trimmed a bit more every time until it was the perfect shape.
