Instructions

I read Stamped Metal Jewelry by Lisa Niven Kelly and decided to try it. Since we are having a meeting on the 26th with crafters I thought it would be a neat idea to make something personal for each of the ladies. Plus I needed the practice at hitting the die correctly and I guess they dont have to be perfect for this group.

Difficulty:

Category: Jewelry

Type of item: Accessory

For: Other

Style: Cute, Casual, Mod

Materials

Brass strips (1/32 x1/8 flat bar), 2 mm ABC dies, design stamp, hammer, pliers, metal cutters, dremel, and 12 mm splite rings

What was your inspiration?

Everyone likes their name- And when making things for other people its hard to know what colors they like or dislike when you have not met them. I guess after watching Lisa make a few things and reading her book, Stamped Metal Jewelry, I just wanted to try to make something for the ladies at the Craftysy meeting.

What are you most proud of?

That I was able to round the sharp edges off the bottoms with the dremel- Also while they are not perfect I think they will like them and I am proud of the fact that I finished them!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take your time and take breaks, dont get upset if you screw one or two up-Its going to happen no matter how careful you are. Have fun with it and be creative- you can add this charm/nametag thingie to just about anything- a necklace, a pin, let your imagination figure something out. As I was making something for eight people and have a time limit, I wanted to keep it simple-given more time I think I would of embelished them more-with beads :)

I'm pretty sure they'll like them. They are quite nice, you did a great job, and crafters love items someone has made just for them, especially jewelry.

thoughtful idea and they look fun. like you said everybody likes things with their name and unique names are hard to find on things pre-printed.

The best thing about it was how easy it was. The hardest thing about it was sanding off the ends and getting the letters straight :)

I like the idea. You did a great job. I have never tried stamping letters on metal. Was it difficult to keep the letters lined up.

It was not as easy as I thought it was going to be! :) I also recommend using a clamp on your steel base because it jumps around a little bit or did on me..
