Instructions

Since my hand sewing skills are craptacular, I’ve decided to single crochet some handles instead with a size F hook to make the stitches nice and tight. On the green stripey bag, the handles are 8 stitches wide. I switched to handles that are 6 stitches wide for the pink bag. I like the look of the skinnier handles better, but they don’t provide as much support as the wider handles.

What are you most proud of?

Actually remembering to use these bags! They hold quite a bit of groceries and are a must if you live in an apartment and have to climb all sorts of stairs after grocery shopping. Plus I always get compliments on my bags when I'm at the grocery store.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The key for me to remember to use these bags, is to hang them by my purse, so I'll grab one on my way out the door, granted I plan on stopping by the grocery store.

Great idea, easy to wash and better than the 'now revealed' lead-containing recyclable bags they are selling.

I've done this bag before and it turned out great. I did crochet handles too and it worked out just fine. My MIL loves her bag and uses it for everything. She says it hols up really well.

I made one for my MIL too...well more like she saw me working on it and insisted she must have it. But she loves using it, as where she shops for groceries, they charge you for each plastic bag, so she at least saves some money by using my bag.
