What was your inspiration?

I made my grandson a red and tan quilt. His mom liked it so much she tried to talk him into giving it to her. To save him from having to give up his special quilt I promised to make her a special one for her bed. I used a pattern I found in a magazine, one I'd planned to use to make a quilt for our cottage bed.

What are you most proud of?

I was so happy to have made both daughter and grandson happy by delivering a quilt of their favorite color combinations. Red, tan and black are a favorite combination of mine.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Dig into your stash and audition those scraps. This is one of those quilts that works so well mixing lots of fabrics. I'm still planning to make that green one for the cottage.

The center has such depth, it looks almost 3 dimensional. Very cool. Do you know what issue of the magazine this pattern was in??

I added the correct issue--Quilt Sampler Magazine, Spring/Summer 2009. If you can't locate that issue I should be able to email it. Let me know.
