Quilting: Log cabin
22 kudoz

Log cabin

Instructions

This is a modern take on a very traditional log cabin block.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Unisex

Style: Funky, Traditional, Classic

Materials

Mainly Batik brights plus a white background.

What was your inspiration?

A photo I saw of a 'show and tell' item from Dubai guild meeting. The original quilter had left the U.A.E,, so I had to figure out the block myself.

What are you most proud of?

The hand quilting, not done by me. I sent the quilt top to Thailand, to a group home where the ladies support themselves by hand sewing for ex-pat quilters.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Jelly rolls of batik prints would be a good start for this project. I cut all the strips from yardage.

It has never been in the UAE. I made it when I was home the summer of 2010.

Very bright, and cheery, and eye catching. Great job on the piecing and color choices, Desert Diva.

Why thank you. This is the eldest daughter's favourite wrap on the back couch when she visits.
