Watch the pattern carefully. I messed up on the button band and ended up with an extra button.

Thank you! I had been knitting for a couple of years when I did this. I think the sleeves were done on dpns. It was a pretty easy project - plus there are lots of pictures and step by step instructions with the pattern. Try it! Oh and I did the 2T size so it was a little less daunting than an adult size sweater.

Adorable little man coat. How experienced a knitter were you before doing this? I can do a lot (just learning how to use dpn's, can do simple lace, cowls, shawls, etc.), but have never done a garment. Any input? Thanks for sharing. ~jdm
