Nashua Handknits Geologie, Novita Rose Mohair
What was your inspiration?
I saw something similar on one of these websites, a beautifully made earth toned mitered squares. I had gotten this yarn for another variation of the Paintbox Log Cabin blanket, but the Nashua Handknits Geologie is quite a bit more lightweight than the Puro yarn I had used before, and the color changes seemed more subtle, therefore better suited for a mitered transition. The rest was just 'design as you go'
What are you most proud of?
I'm thrilled with the 4s i-cord bind off, though I have to admit regretting it repeatedly while tinkering with it one whole day!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Being random in color shifts was harder than I expected, and I drove my son nuts by having this project take over the living room floor for two weeks. I'm now so excited about how the angles of the miters actually work out, giving the finished product that prism-like quality, but it took hours of staring at it just to avoid any undesired repetition in patterns.
