What was your inspiration?

I was born and raised in Rhode Island...loved the ocean, and wanted my "land locked" son to enjoy the view so far away from it all..the Anchor is actually RI's symbol and it's flag.

What are you most proud of?

the schooner and anchor were my 2nd attempts at applique but, first attempt at machine embroidery

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This was originally a cut from material that should have been pillow cases. I thought I could do much better than just cases and actually make the whole quilt. Sometimes when you start with a panel, and let your imagination run (or flip though a good quilting magazine) you can get lots of good ideas and make something beautiful.

I love this fabric. I have been wanting to make a quilt for my brother in law who lives part-time on a boat. This would be perfect and it looks great. with your other squares.

I love it! Your quilt and backing fabric have the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec, Maine ... my husband and I went there on our honeymoon so it has a special place in our hearts. I recently bought some lighthouse fabric and have been wondering what in the world to do with it. Thanks for the ideas!! And bringing back good memories! :-)

;) My hubby and I lived in Maine when our kids were pre-school age. We loved it there...and loved the light houses they are famous for.
