Instructions

Basically it is a 4-patch square pattern then framed and the sashings are a combination of 2 fabrics sewn together and then cut into strips and the corners have the hourglass. The border is pretty simple to add, I usually do the sides first and end with the top and bottom. The matching shams are a basic bed pillow size sham with the double opening in the back.

Materials

Cotton materials , polyester batting - low-loft, thread, sewing machine & sewing materials and tools.

What was your inspiration?

Co-worker - wanted a Beach type theme for his quilt. The 4-patch has a lighthouse print as one of the sqaures. I liked the flip-flop printed material for the side border. I also included 2 pillow shams.

What are you most proud of?

How nice it looked when it was done. The pictures of the quilt are taken on his bed. The bold red/white and black/white give it a nice contrast.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you want to plan out a project - using graph paper is a great idea - and a pencil - so it can be changed easily.
