What was your inspiration?
Kristin's class plus my many years of watching "Sewing With Nancy" on PBS were my inspiration. After making two totes in two different colorways, I decided to try my hand at making a crazy quilt version, based on shows I've watched on "Sewing With Nancy." I call this my "lazy" crazy quilt because I didn't do any of the steps you're supposed to do to insure nice, clean edges. I just stuck scraps of fabric on muslim, temporarily held them with spray adhesive, made sure the edges were close together and/or overlapping and zig zagged my way through. The lining of the tote is made the way Kristin teaches how to make the exterior. It's reversible, so is there really an "inside" and an "outside?"
What are you most proud of?
I think it came out OK!! Considering I had NO idea what I was doing.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
First of all, take Kristin's class. After you've conquered the excellent instructions she's given to you, take yourself to the next step. Now I'm committed to improving my crazy quilting technique.
