Hello catalina papadia, Welcome to Perspective in Landscape Drawing. Congratulations on the posting of your first drawing for the course. Also, thank you for the information, your drawing experience, your particular concerns & challenges, and material. [Also, appreciate that you included a reference image. For those of you interested in seeing catalina's reference image it is in her next posting.] You did a fine first landscape drawing, and garnered a response from okart 730 [Thank you okart for the encouraging words. And kudos to you catalina papadia for offering encouragement to fellow perspectivi DK Woodward on her hammock drawing]. In regards to your comments about the inability to depict engine steam, rocks and water, you have focused on detail- which is important- at the expense of understanding those general things that you did better and which aid in the perspective of the scene. The general perspectival structure must be successfully placed first; or detail will be

[criticism continued] or detail, no matter how meticulous, will be superfluous and flat. You have posted another drawing of this scene, this time you have placed the border. Let's go to that now and I will continue with the commentary. Once again, this is a goof first effort, you will need to concentrate first on those structures that promote pictorial depth- you have done this satisfactorily here- rather than the details.
